I just finished a telephone interview this afternoon with Jim McCarty (original and still active drummer for The Yardbirds). Jim is also working on his own solo projects as well as touring with The Yardbirds. He and bass player, Chris Dreja are still the original, lasting members. Being part of the British Invasion during the 60s, The Yardbirds swept America with their hits, For Your Love, Shapes of Things, I’m a Man and Heart Full of Soul. The band had three outstanding rock and roll guitarists at various times with the likes of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Jim McCarty took some time to share with me how rock and roll life was in the early days and what life is like now with The Yardbirds. They are scheduled to perform at Tangier in Akron, Ohio on May 23rd.
