Toni Tennille

I just finished my interview with Toni Tennille! She was calling from her home in Florida. We discussed her recent book, “Toni Tennille, A Memoir”. She and her former husband, Daryl Dragon, better known as the Captain & Tennille had many hit songs and millions of fans. Once the stage lights went dark and the fans went home, the real life she led was lonely and troubled.

Patrick Simmons, The Doobie Brothers

In 2010 I had interviewed Tom Johnston, original member of The Doobie Brothers who wrote “Listen to the Music”. It was nice to talk once more with Denny Tedesco. Our first interview was nearly 5 years ago when his documentary about The Wrecking Crew was still being put together. The doc is now completed! Denny is the son of the late Tommy Tedesco who played guitar for The Wrecking Crew. The WC played on nearly every hit record that came out of the LA area during the 60s. For more information on these outstanding session musicians, please watch the link below (and of course read my article when it’s in publication!)

Ron Dante

I enjoyed my conversation/interview this evening with Ron Dante! He is the voice of “Sugar, Sugar” (1969) for the ficticious cartoon, The Archies. He was also the singer for the hit, “Tracy” (1969) with the band, The Cuff Links. Ron has produced 9 of Barry Manilow’s albums, still tours and is currently working with new artists as a producer. He said I asked great questions!

Bobby Hart (Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart)

It is an honor and a privilege to share that I interviewed Bobby Hart this afternoon! We talked about his book, “Psychedelic Bubble Gum”. Foreword written by Micky Dolenz. The book is a reflective page-turner for anyone interested in one of the greatest eras of music. Bobby and his songwriting partner, Tommy Boyce wrote songs for The Monkees, Jay & The Americans, Chubby Checker and MANY MORE as well as hit songs for themselves!

Henry Diltz

I had another informative and fun interview this afternoon with music photographer, Henry Diltz. Henry’s work has spanned nearly 50 years with emphasis on the days of the famous rock neighborhood, Laurel Canyon in LA during the mid/late 60s. He has an upcoming project called “Behind the Lens” in which he will be co-presenting with Pattie Boyd. (Pattie was married to Beatle George Harrison during the 60s and then later married Eric Clapton). Henry and Pattie will be showing slides and reminiscing. More information to be found on Henry Diltz Photography on Facebook.

He said Jefferson Airplane will turn 50 years old on August 13!!

The Psylodelic Gallery

I was recently contacted by the curator of the “Psylodelic Gallery” at Fur Peace Ranch in Pomeroy, OH. The ranch is owned by Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna) and his wife, Vanessa. I was asked if it was OK to use an article of mine from an interview I had done with Jeanne Rose. She was a fashion designer during the late 60s/early 70s for Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & The Holding Company, The Rascals and many more. Her fashion designs are currently on display. The exhibit is called, “Lay It On Me, Celebrating the Threads, Rags and Acid Fashions of the 60s”. My article has been enlarged and attached to foam core board to accompany the designs. The exhibit will run until December 2014.
